How do I order Gibs?
The part number nomenclature for all gibs follows the format GIB-XXXX. This alphanumeric designation is derived from two key specifications: the overall length and the thickness of the tapered side.
- The first digit, represented by the first "X," corresponds to the gib's overall length in inches.
- The final three digits, represented by "XXX," denote the thickness of the tapered side, typically measured in thousandths of an inch (e.g., .550"). This measurement is often scribed directly onto the gib's surface.
For example, a gib with an overall length of 6 inches and a tapered thickness of .550 inches would be designated as GIB-6550. In cases where the thickness is not visibly scribed, a precision measurement of the thinnest section of the taper can be used for identification.
