Overview of the Glentek Universal Spindle Drive
The Glentek Spindle Inverter (Part number: INV-0098) is a universal, drop-in replacement spindle drive for all Fadal CNC machines. It is engineered to enhance the performance of standard three-phase induction motors, supporting a power range of 5hp to 20hp.
How It Works
This drive uses advanced flux vector technology and a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) to create a precise torque feedback loop. This gives the motor performance similar to a servo motor, providing exceptional speed control from standstill to full speed. By continuously calculating and maintaining a 90-degree phase difference between flux and torque vectors, the drive ensures efficient torque control without drawing excessive current.
The Glentek drive can also operate in a sensorless mode, which eliminates the need for external feedback. This mode can be used as a standard inverter or in Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) mode to optimize motor efficiency. With sophisticated mathematical algorithms and state-of-the-art DSP technology, the drive ensures a smooth, steady start by gradually increasing frequency and voltage to efficiently accelerate the motor. This results in enhanced motor performance, greater energy efficiency, and precise speed control for various applications.
